We Are Fa-mi-ly! ~ The Nicholas Family

Con­nec­tions, con­nec­tions, con­nec­tions! So here’s the sto­ry of how I got con­nect­ed with the Nicholas fam­i­ly. As I was a young bud­ding pho­tog­ra­ph­er, Vanes­sa, the Pro­gram Direc­tor for Faith Con­nec­tions, had total faith in me (no pun intend­ed) in cap­tur­ing their “The­ol­o­gy on Tap” events. What could a pho­tog­ra­ph­er ask for? Free wings, great talks and con­ver­sa­tions sparked by inspir­ing speak­ers while doing what you love to do best…take pho­tos! Well, one thing led to anoth­er and they hired me to do a for­mal­ized pho­to­shoot for images used on mar­ket­ing mate­r­i­al and their web­site. I am indebt­ed to their kind con­sid­er­a­tion, as those ses­sions had helped me grow tech­ni­cal­ly and cre­ative­ly.

Fast for­ward through major events of get­ting mar­ried and hav­ing a son, Vanes­sa and Michael have been great friends to keep in touch with over the years. And in this case, they sur­prised their par­ents with this fam­i­ly pho­to­shoot, as they cel­e­brat­ed their 40th wed­ding anniver­sary. How inspir­ing! To cap­ture what two peo­ple have accom­plished: three won­der­ful kids, a son-in-law and an adorable grand­son, Liam, with strik­ing blue eyes!

Shot in their back­yard, we enjoyed tak­ing for­mal­ized and can­did pic­tures. Liam cer­tain­ly enjoyed read­ing books with Mom­my and Dad­dy and Grand­ma and Grand­pa and play­ing with his toys with Aun­tie Ash­ley and Uncle Kyle and react­ing to fun sounds from every­one. I loved the feel­ing of “togeth­er­ness” with all of them which made my job real­ly easy.

As we are inspired by the con­nec­tion of the Nicholas fam­i­ly, may we – in our own way – count each fam­i­ly mem­ber as bless­ings, as each year pass­es by.
