B.T. + J.B. ~ The Knot Is Tied!
On my post about Brandy and Jason’s engagement, I left off mentioning that they were more than just Trekkie’s. They were (are) also all about The Lord of the Rings, Dr. Who and any popular sci-fi movie you can think of, spanning as far back to the 80s :). This wedding would be nothing less than creative. I’m going to have to break up my synopsis as you browse through.
As I started with Brandy’s prep shots, I was astounded by all the details. The bouquets did not need any hydration as they were all intricately made by paper but not just any paper, mind you! The petals were made from pages of J.R.R. Tolkien’s “The Hobbit”. In addition to taking photos of the traditional high heels that would carry Brandy down the aisle, I was handed a pair of red Chuck Taylor’s! Oh, this was going to be good!
Brandy ended up wearing a head-dress which was three generations old and her ceremonial wedding dress was previously worn by her grandmother, aunt and mother at their own respective weddings. Brandy’s hair suited the style so well, don’t you think? Aside from all these wonderful details, the ladies were so much fun to be with: laughing and shedding tears of joy as Brandy came down the stairs in her wedding dress.
From the ceremony at Our Lady of Grace R.C. Church, we scooted off to Madsen’s Greenhouses & Garden Centre for the formals and reception. After the formal family portraits were done, the fun continued on with the wedding party shots. Jason and his groomsmen brought replicas of the swords used in “The Lord of the Rings”. And if you’re familiar with the movie, yes, his was Aragorn’s Andúril. Cool, huh? Not only did the guys have fun with the swords, the ladies wanted to get in that action too. Lastly, Brandy and Jason had requested what I had seen other photographers trend…invite-a-T-Rex-and-run-for-your-lives shot!!!! The bridal party totally played their roles and it was a lot of fun putting it together.
So photobooths are certainly a treat at many wedding receptions and what Brandy and Jason had in store for their guests was a marvel. Brandy’s father had built and exact replica of the TARDIS telephone booth (from Dr. Who)!!! Inside, there was a camera set up with a wireless remote and guests helped themselves with whatever poses they wished. The coolest thing about it was the guests were in front of a green screen which would later be used to “place” them in any different background Brandy and Jason so chose.
What a great place to have the reception, especially if you wanted to recreate a feel for the Shire. Once the sun set, the lights in the bushes were lit and it was certainly magical!
From wonderful personal speeches to a surprise choreographed dance number by Brandy & Jason and her father and his mother, this wedding was surely one that everyone would remember. I was so humbled to have been asked to photograph this most fantastical wedding. Brandy and Jason, continue to use your creativity to keep your love exciting and new!
And this is my photobooth mugshot. Booya!
